If there’s one tip when it comes to creating a marketing centerpiece for an event, it’s to make it the center of attention.

At least that’s what Simone Worsdale, former Associate Director of Communications and Marketing for the Florida International University (FIU) Alumni Association, thought when her team was tasked with creating a marketing piece for an upcoming alumni event.

“We initially started out with a round, 3D centerpiece, but they were expensive and fragile,” Simone said. “We were looking for a collapsible solution that met our price point and could stand up to being shipped to volunteers across the country.”

After receiving a referral from a colleague, Simone said she chose to go with Red Paper Plane after confirming that it met all the qualifications she was looking for in a print piece. Not only was the price right, but the website offered about a dozen different interactive marketing templates to choose from. Due to the team’s need for their marketing piece to also serve as a centerpiece at various events, Simone said her team chose the 4.25” Pop Up Cube.

The Pop Up Cube, which comes in additional sizes, is one of Red Paper Plane’s most popular and well-loved formats. It’s a customizable direct mail template that ships flat and, when opened, springs to life literally popping up into the air.

For FIU, the cubes featured the FIU Alumni Association logo, a photo of campus, the school’s mascot and the phrase “Be Worlds Ahead”.

“When I received it and popped it open in my hands, I was like, ‘This is perfect,’” Simone said. “The piece was easily transportable and indestructible. We actually had to do two orders because people were taking them from the events! Now, the Pop Up Cube has become a staple for us. It’s pretty easy to transform a room with them.”

And it doesn’t end there.

“People in the office love them, too,” she said. “I know everybody in the office, when they see the Pop Up Cubes, get happy and it makes their jobs much easier.”
